After spending the night of June 9 in nearby Hopkinsville, the EBCI Remember the Removal riders (Cherokee Riders) are scheduled to arrive in Princeton, mid-morning of June 10.
That particular day in the journey of following the Trail of Tears will be one of their longest days.
They will stop briefly at Big Springs and then be guests at the George Coon Library where they rest briefly with a light lunch.
Organizers plan to end their day in Golconda, Illinois, stopping at Mantle Rock where their ancestors were forced to stay for several weeks while waiting for the river to thaw enough to be ferried across.
Updates on their trek will be made through this newspaper’s web site concerning possible time or date changes, due to weather or other conditions.
Be alert for support vehicles, including security, ahead of and behind the group of riders.
