Funeral services for Howard Gray Lane, Sr., 81, of Benton, formerly of Trigg County, were conducted on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Collier Funeral Chapel in Benton.

A Masonic service was held on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 7:30 p.m., in the Collier Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Joe Daryl Thorn officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Hematite Cemetery in the Kentucky portion of Land Between The Lakes.

Mr. Lane died on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Mr. Lane was the son of the late Barnel Preston and Nida Bonner Lane.

Mr. Lane was a member of the Hematite Methodist Church in LBL; served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict; was retired from the maintenance department of Air Products and Chemicals in Calvert City; and was a fifty-year-member of the Hardin-Berkley Masonic Lodge #567 in Hardin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Lane.

Survivors include his wife, Walline Chambers Lane of Benton; two sons, Howard Gray Lane, Jr., of Benton and Scott Lane of Lone Oak, Ky.; two sisters, Delpha Rhoades of Murray and Lorene Cassity of Benton; two brothers, Sam Lane of Benton, and Malcomb Lane of Eddyville; three grandchildren, Chris Lane and Leslie Taylor, both of Benton, and Cody Taylor of Hickory; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Taylor and Macoy Taylor, both of Benton.

The family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to the Hematite Cemetery Fund, c/o Donald Lane, 3993 Mayfield Highway, Benton, KY 42025.
