O. Gene Nixon 75, Cadz

Funeral services for O. Gene Nixon, 75, of Cadiz, formerly of Evansville, Ind., were conducted on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jasper, Ind. The Eureka Lodge No. 397 F&AM conducted a Masonic Memorial service at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, July 16, at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, Ind.
Revs. Norman Cotton and Steve Seitz officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Spurgeon Cemetery in Spurgeon, Ind.
Mr. Nixon died on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at his home of natural causes.
Mr. Nixon was born on February 25, 1933, in rural Pike County, Ind. He was the son of the late Oatley and Perna Nixon.
Mr. Nixon graduated from Selvin High School in 1952; retired from Red Spot Paint & Varnish Company in Evansville after 44 years of employment; started as a stock boy during high school then served as Industrial Sales Manager and in Marketing UV coatings; was a pilot, logging over 20,000 flight hours in general aviation aircraft; was named the Business Pilot of the Year in 1976 by the Ziff-Davis Publishing Company; was a member of Ponderosa Baptist Church in Cadiz, the Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus Community, the Eureka Lodge No. 397 F&AM, and formerly a member of the Hadi Shrine and the Scottish Rite.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Allison Nixon, Alan Merle Nixon, and James Nixon.
Survivors include his wife, Holly Nalley Nixon of Cadiz; a daughter, Mary Ann Hardy of Hatfield, Ind.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Becky Nixon of Jasper, Ind.; four grandchildren, Aaron Hardy, Melissa Hardy, Kaisi Nixon, and Karson Nixon; two brothers, Charles M. Nixon of Fort Branch, Ind., and Kenneth Nixon of Whiteland, Ind.; three sisters, Luvada Saugee of Newburgh, Ind., Pauline Hatfield of Evansville, Ind., and Emma Bender of Gentryville, Ind.; and his former wife, Ethel Nixon of Hatfield, Ind.
A Memorial Service of Remembrance was conducted on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Ponderosa Baptist Church in Cadiz.
Rev. Norman Cotton officiated at the service.
Debra Adamson, pianist, and Ron Yonts, vocalist provided the music at the Memorial service.
Serving as pallbearers were David Nixon, Karson Nixon, Aaron Nixon, Kenneth Nixon, Matt Adkins, Sam Hargus, Jonathon Hargus, and Nolan Hargus
