A person claiming to work for Pennyrile Electric has apparently been involved with two residential burglaries and at least one attempted burglary in the Cadiz/Trigg County area, according to Cadiz Police Chief Hollis Alexander.

Alexander said early Tuesday morning that someone posing as an employee from Pennyrile Electric was last seen in the Glendale, Hillview and First Street areas of Cadiz. According to reports he was seen driving a dark gray van, possibly a 1990s model that may have tinted windows.

The chief said the man, described as a Caucasian male in his mid 30s, slender, tall build and blonde hair, is approaching home owners and telling them he needed to check on their property line. He is then asking the property owners to accompany him to the rear of the residence while an accomplice is entering the home and taking items.

Alexander warned residents the burglaries are nothing but a scam and they should be cautioned about letting anyone into their home unless they know them.

He also noted that Pennyrile Rural Electric officials and have been advised that they have not been in the area working. Their trucks will be identified with the Pennyrile Rural Electric markings and their uniforms should also be identifiable by the Pennyrile Rural Electric markings. City of Cadiz workers will also be identifiable by their uniforms.

Cadiz Police is continuing the investigation at this time. Anyone with any information that may lead to the arrest of this suspect can call either 522-8369 or 522-8888.
