The Cadiz Civitans donate to local causes

Cadiz Civitan club met Tuesday night, March 2, 2010 at Cadiz Restaurant, with President Rachel Shepard, presiding. Willie Wilson led the Pledge to the U.S.A. Flag, and John Mitchell said the prayer.

The club voted to give $300 to Trigg County Special Olympics, and $100 to Boy Scouts.

Plans have been made to host a special program, next meeting, March 16th 2010, concerning Junior Civitans. Guest speaker will be LaDonna Hamm, Junior Civitan director for Valley District of Civitan. Everyone interested is invited.

The Civitan Newsletter reminded us Daylight Savings Time returns Sunday, March 14, and Trigg County Civil War Days will be staged at West Cadiz Park, March 19-21, featuring period costumes, equipment, food, and activities. Admission is free.

Ronnie Cook, William Lawrence, and Wallace Blakeley gave reports on candy boxes and fruit cake sales.

David Kyler delivered a bag of cookies, made from Civitan Fruit Cakes. They are delicious. The recipe is available from any Civitan, or from Mallory at Hancock’s Neighborhood Market in Cadiz.

President Shepard’s Quiz was about Trigg County History, and Wallace Blakeley won First Prize.

Those attending include special guests, Kanisha Frye, A.J. parish, and Trent Bush, plus Connie cook, Rachel Shepard, Wallace Blakeley, Ronnie Cook, Willie Wilson, John Mitchell, William Lawrence, Carolyn Lawrence, and David Kyler. The gold Dollar winner was Rachel Shepard, who closed the meeting by reading the Civitan Creed.

Civitan meets each first and third Tuesday night, 6:30 p.m. at Cadiz Restaurant.
