JMAM plans classes for the new year

Mitchell Bryant will teach a day time pottery class for all skill levels at the Janice Mason Art Museum beginning Monday, January 20 at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. The class will meet each Monday and Tuesday morning for three weeks for a total of six classes. The fee for the class is $50.00 for museum members and $60.00 for non-members. There will be a $30.00 supply charge to cover the cost of clay and glazes. Monday, January 27, Vicki Karrigan will begin a stain glass class at the museum at 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It will be held for five consecutive Monday nights. The cost of the class is $100.00 for members and $125.00 for non-members. This includes the cost of tools that participants will get to keep. Each person will select a pattern and complete a stain-glass piece. Class members will also need to purchase glass needed for their projects. This is available on site during the class periods. In late February, Peggy Kemp will be offering a watercolor/acrylic painting class for all skill levels. This will be held on six successive Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Fee will be $40.00 for members and $50.00 for non-members. Supplies needed include watercolor paints/or acrylics depending on your preference, a paint palette, a brush to do homework and a pencil. Brushes will be furnished for class. Water color paper needed should be 15" by 20", 140 lb. weight, with a cold press surface. If you are using acrylics you can use any type of hard surface such as cardboard, stretch canvass, or anything heavier than regular paper to paint on. Many use watercolor paper to do their acrylic painting. The specific beginning date will be determined later. To enroll in a class please call the Janice Mason Art Museum at 522-9056 at least one week prior to the class beginning date. Class fees must be paid prior to the beginning date. Partial funding has been provided by the Kentucky Arts Council a state agency in the Education, Arts and Humanities Cabinet with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
