US Rep. Ernie Fletcher, a Republican candidate for Governor of Kentucky during the November General Election, will greet supporters at the Janice Mason Art Museum today, Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m., according to a news release.

Fletcher is expected to remain at the museum for about 45 minutes before leaving for an appointment in Princeton, according to Trigg County Republican Party officials. The public is encouraged to greet Fletcher.

Fletcher currently represents the 6th Congressional District of Kentucky in the US House of Representatives. He was born in Mt. Sterling and is a longtime Lexington resident. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Kentucky College of Engineering in 1974 and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.

Fletcher served in the United States Air Force as an F-4E Aircraft Commander and NORAD Alert Force Commander where he led flights that intercepted Soviet military aircraft during the Cold War.

Fletcher's legislative service began in 1995 as a state representative for the 78th District of Kentucky. During his term in office he served on the Kentucky Commission on Poverty, the Task Force on Higher Education and was chosen by the Governor to assist with reforming Kentucky's ailing health-care system.

He is married to his high school sweetheart, Glenna Foster. They have two children, Rachael and Ben. They are also the proud grandparents of Katherine, Hannah and Joshua.

Editor's note: The Janice Mason Art Museum Board of Directors does not sanction political candidates of any party and is not a participant in the event. The building is offered as a public service.
