Wilson was awarded as Trigg County's Ambassador of the Year. One of Wilson's more recent accomplishments is a large mural detailing the county's history at the Janice Mason Art Museum.

Several of the county's most spirited residents were honored last week by the Cadiz-Trigg County Chamber of Commerce for their selfless and untiring effort to benefit their neighbor and the community.

Trigg County EMS Director Nell Thomas, Trigg artist Charlotte Wilson, small business owner Edward Wilford, Trigg County educator Kay Wyatt, City Councilman and businessman Jim Ricks, and Renaissance on Main maintenance worker Billy Kennedy were honored during ceremonies Thursday night at the Edward T. Breathitt Convention Center at Lake Barkley State Resort Park.

During a short introduction by Paula Flood, Nell Thomas was awarded the Good Samaritan of the Year award for her efforts over the past four decades with Trigg County EMS. Thomas helped to kick off, organize and run the ambulance service at Trigg County Hospital since the 1970.

Wilson was awarded as Trigg County's Ambassador of the Year. One of Wilson's more recent accomplishments is a large mural detailing the county's history at the Janice Mason Art Museum. Numerous other artistic works and tireless contributions to the community were honored.

Meanwhile, Wilford received the Chamber's Small Business of the Year award and Wyatt was honored with Educator of the Year Award by TCMS Principal Hal Beddell.

Ricks, who also served as mayor of Cadiz in the 1990s, was awarded the Citizen of the Year Award for his contributions to the community. Ricks remains on the Cadiz City Council and owns Jim's Music store downtown.

A Special Recognition award went to Billy Kennedy, of Cadiz Renaissance on Main. Kennedy is employed by the city to help keep the downtown area clean along with helping Renaissance volunteers set up seasonal décor in the area.

The speaker for the evening was Kentucky artist Mitchell Tolle. Tolle owns a 25,000 square foot studio in Berea where he sells his works that feature patriotic, homelife and other types of art themes.

Proceeds from the dinner will allow the Chamber to provide about $2,500 in scholarships to Trigg County High School students.

Mallory Lawrence was chosen to serve as president of the Chamber for 2004 in an election held during a short business session. Greg Allen, Chamber president for 2003, spoke briefly.

"I would like to thank the Chamber members for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your president this year," he said. "Your Chamber board of directors are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to Cadiz and Trigg County. We have had several ribbon cuttings this year, both for new business and established businesses changing their names, ownership and their service to Trigg County. Once again, thank you and I ask that you get involved in Chamber and the community. Be part of the force that will help shape the future in Cadiz."

Other officers elected include Howard Stovall, Donna Oliver, and Sandra Myers. Going off the board for 2004 are Sarah Neighborgall, Dan Dickerson and Carmen Finley.

Other members of the Chamber's Board of Directors include Jackie Roberts, Clayton Woodall, Leida Underhill, Flood, Pam Perry and Penny Jones.
