It was Trigg’s first game in the boys round robin portion of the Kentucky Machine and Engineering Christmas Classic. Caldwell had defeated Dawson Springs earlier in the day.
On Dec. 8, Tron Gray led Caldwell with 33 points in a 69-59 Trigg win. Monday, Gray finished with 25 points, and again, it wasn’t enough to overtake the Wildcats.
Jaylan Mount scored 10 of Trigg’s first 12 points, finished with 23 and was named Player of the Game.
The Wildcats shot 51 percent from the field and held the Tigers to 36.2 percent, including 1-for-15 from three-point range.
Caldwell returned to action Tuesday against Clarksville (Tenn.) Academy between Trigg’s games against Butler County and Dawson Springs (results unavailable at press time). Wednesday, Caldwell will face Butler at 10:50 a.m., while Trigg will play the finale at 8 p.m. against Clarksville.
