Cadiz /Trigg County VFW Post 7890 was the setting for a memorial service held to honor U.S. Army, Specialist Jason Ames, who died in Iraq, this past August. Specialist Ames' parents, Irl and Susan Ames, National Blue Star Mothers representative Debora Nichols, Lexington and Kentucky Quilt Project "Home The Brave" organizer, Pat English, (Quilter's Alley Paducah) joined members of VFW Post 7890 and its Commander during the ceremony held Sunday afternoon.

Nichols presented Ames’ parents a Gold Star Banner to replace the Blue Star Banner that had hung in their window since their son was deployed to Iraq in 2004.

The blue star represents one family member serving in the armed forces of the United States. It covered or replaced with a gold star to indicate that the family member was killed or died during the war or period of hostilities.
