Trigg County Relay for Life co-hairs Pat Board and Dannye Wagner came to the Cadiz Record office last week with a little glass gift in a case. The American Cancer Society’s Mid-South Division recently honored the paper with the Lighthouse Award for Media Excellence in Kentucky.

The Cadiz Record received first place honors for best media support by a print outlet in the category of Kentucky small/rural markets. While congratulating Cadiz Record Editor Vyron Mitchell, Wagner said it is amazing how much money a small community like Trigg County can raise when its citizens band together for a common cause. She said it is vitally important that a town’s news media promote events like Relay for Life for that to happen. Mitchell thanked Wagner for the accolades, but gave much credit to Record reporters Alan Reed and Hawkins Teague.
