CADIZ – AT&T recently announced enhanced wireless coverage in Cadiz (Trigg County). A new cell site is located 59 miles southeast of Paducah along U.S. Hwy. 68. This new site boosts coverage along Hwy. 274, Hwy. 139 and Hwy. 68/80 between I-24 and Canton near Lake Barkley.

AT&T’s network is built on the GSM standard — the most open and widely used technology in the world. Its wireless devices work in more than 200 countries and regions. Nearly all devices in AT&T’s current portfolio are “world phones” that can be used around the world.

“Our mission is to connect people with their world, everywhere they live and work, and to do it better than anyone else,” said Jim Thorpe, vice president and general manager for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets in Kentucky and Tennessee. “We continue to make significant investments to deliver dependable, high speed wireless access in more places across Kentucky for consumers and business customers who need to stay connected to work, family and friends.”

The Trigg County site is one of about 65 new cell sites slated for 2009. From 2006 to 2008, AT&T’s total capital investment in Kentucky was nearly $525 million. The investment in its wireless broadband network is part of AT&T’s ongoing effort to build the broadband networks – both wireless and wired - that will create jobs and fuel economic growth and enable its customers to access the content, applications and services that matter most to them.
