LBL officials offered scant detail into two separate, and apparently unrelated accidents at the Turkey Bay Off-Highway Vehicle Area over the weekend.

Media Relations Officer Katherine Harper confirmed that the first accident happened Saturday evening. “It was a young lady, but I don’t have any information on her. We do know that she was riding an off-highway vehicle when she received a head injury. For that reason (a medical evacuation helicopter) was called from Hopkinsville to fly her to Vanderbilt. Trigg County rescue was at the scene. Our own law enforcement was not the first to arrive but assisted with the location, including the search along the lake shore.”

The incident was first reported sometime around 7:31 p.m. when rescue units from Trigg County were dispatched, according to Trigg County 911 directory Kim Wiggins.

Harper said that law enforcement and rescuers from the LBL Forest Service Office, Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, Trigg County Rescue Squad, and EMS responded to the accident.
