Two unrelated weekend ATV accidents claimed the lives of two Tennessee men.

The first accident, at 6 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Turkey Bay Off-road Vehicle Area in LBL killed, 35-year-old Jeffrey Mark Davis of Clarksville, Tenn. Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson said that Jeffrey Davis had been the sole rider of the vehicle, and may or may not have been wearing a helmet found several feet from his body.

Twenty-five year-old William Patrick Davis died in the second accident at 3:05 p.m. at the Linton Recreation Area on Sunday. Vinson said that he did not believe the two Davises were related in any way. Witnesses said that William Davis did not wear a helmet at the time of the accident. Again, William Davis was the lone rider of his vehicle.

According to Vinson, investigation found both ATV’s to be in good working order. “There is no evidence that the drivers were operating their vehicles unsafely. Obviously something went wrong.”

Vinson said that both riders succumbed to severe head injuries. He added that samples had been taken from both victims to determine if alcohol had been a factor in the accidents.

He added that the victims had been riding in groups and according to witnesses, both appeared to be familiar with the operation of their vehicles.
