The investigating officer, Trooper First Class C.G. Anderson said that the accident occurred on November 8 at 8:30 a.m. When negotiating a curve on Barefield Road, one mile from U.S. 68, Anderson said that Sanders ran off the right shoulder then over-corrected left, then steered into a yaw, forcing his vehicle right again and into a field. The 1988 white Ford Ranger rolled three times, for a total distance of 79 feet. During the rolls, Sanders was ejected from the vehicle. The report said that Sanders was not using his seatbelt at the time of the accident. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the accident.
