Mr. Curtis died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville following a short illness.
He was born Oct. 31, 1934 in Paducah to his parents, Vard Curtis, Sr., and Ola Mae (Cargill) Curtis.
He was the former owner and operator of Prizer Point Marina and Campground.
He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the United States Marines, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dianne Curtis, sons Al Curtis, Jr., of Loganville, Ga., and Brian Curtis of Cadiz, daughter Caren Curtis of Goodlettsville, Tenn., sisters Bea Chester and Jean Billington of Paducah and Netsy Jennings of Michigan, brother Joe Wallace of Gilbertsville and grandchildren Brian Curtis, Jr., Christopher Curtis, Mary Curtis and Charlotte Wilburn.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Curtis, brothers Vard Curtis, Jr., and Harrison L. Curtis and sisters Arretta Boyle and Margaret Brown.
