Funeral services for Alex Harrison Boyd, Jr., 68, of Richmond, VA formerly of Trigg County, were conducted on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Bloomfield Baptist Church, Cadiz. Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. E.A. Brown, Sr., officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Cadiz.

Mr. Boyd died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at 1:40 p.m. in Richmond, VA, of natural causes.

Mr. Boyd was born September 14, 1940, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Alex Harrison Boyd Sr., and Martha Irvin Boyd.

Mr. Boyd was a former employee of the Sanitation department for the city of Cadiz. He was a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Ruth Boyd, Hopkinsville, two sons, Alex H. Boyd, III, Hopkinsville, James R. Boyd, Hopkinsville, three daughters Laquetta Elder, Richmond, VA, Vivian Trice, Hopkinsville, Sonya Hobb, Hopkinsville, one sister, Bertha Boyd, Phoenix, AZ, four brothers, Robert Boyd, Phoenix, AZ, Pernell Boyd, Cadiz, Frank Boyd, Louisville, and James Boyd, Chicago, IL, fourteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
