As you read this it’s springtime in Kentucky, as I write this it’s wintertime in Kentucky. What a difference a few days make. Last week I was in a blue funk because of the torrential rains, this weekend its spitting snow. I only can hope I can hang on to my sanity for a few more days. I need the smell of freshly mowed onions worse than ever. Usually in a presidential election year I’m pretty hopped up as this point and that would help me overlook the weather; this election, not so much. I think I’ve heard and participated in less political talk this election than ever before. I guess everyone is trying to figure out which two they want to be, sexist, racist or age discriminators. I, for one, am all for a woman president. The smartest kid in all my classes in school was a girl. I just wish the girl running wasn’t so... well, so Clinton-like. I’m also glad I lived to see a black man running for president, I only wished he would have been an ex-governor or at least have some experience running something. And the old guy, well he’s an old guy, and I’m an old guy and I wouldn’t want me heading up the show. So pick your poison friend, and keep it to yourself, like I plan on doing. Okay, that takes care of the weather and politics, and that brings me to sports.

Another cold weekend it has been for baseball. Saturday was a full day at the Complex. The Diamond Club put out a good feed complete with big sellers’ coffee and hot chocolate. If they would have had those little orange pocket warmers for sale we could build that indoor ball field we’ve been dreaming about. It was silly cold. It was wind cutting through to your bones cold. But it was a good turn out and working the grill ended up being a good gig.
