Banister is the second straight Trigg female to win at the national level. Amber Abate won the middle school division last year.
Shaye Patterson finished fifth with a score of 274, while Emily Holder (272) was seventh, Shateanna Stewart (270) was 10th, Kelsey Miller (262) was 24th, Kaila Cunningham (261) was 25th, and Kayla Bingham (260) was 31st.
For the guys, Jake McNab finished 13th with a score of 275, which was 14 points behind the winner, Mitchell Monforton of Grandview (MN) Middle School.
Brandon Schaffer was 55th with a score of 260.
Those scores helped Trigg County finish second in the elementary division with a score of 3,171 -- just seven points behind Meigs Intermediate School of Middleport, Ohio. Maysville Elementary School of Zanesville, Ohio was third with 3,096 points.
In the Middle School Division, Sloane Patterson finished sixth with a score of 279, including 15 “10s”. That score was 11 points behind the winner, Meaghann Dunn of Stuart Pepper Middle in Meade County.
Katie Coons finished 21st with a score of 272 and Ellen Shipley was 22nd with an identical score of 272. Hannah Cross (260) finished 53rd and Amanda Fowler (260) was 55th.
