In a response to a Freedom of Information Act request for the report on the fire, The Cadiz Record has learned that three investigators were at the scene conducting an investigation. The report was prepared by Sheena Richardson as the primary investigator, who was joined by Senior Deputy Alan Gregory and Kentucky State Police Investigator Damon Flemming.
Richardson said in her report that her team identified three points of origin of the fire, a hallway floor, the rear bedroom and a location within the kitchen near a utility room.
“After evaluating all three locations, the intensity of the burning, fuel load versus fire damage, fire patterns, and uncharacteristic fire movement, it appeared that the fire was enhanced by some type of accelerant. Due to these findings, the fire appeared to be incendiary in nature. The scene has been released to the Kentucky State Police for further investigation,” Richardson said in her report.
Public Information Officer Barry Meadows of KSP’s Post One in Hickory said that his post would be investigating the arson. Investigator Fleming worked from Post Two, as the Hickory investigator was not available that day. Meadows said that information and leads would be turned over to Post One for further investigation.
