Rev. Todd Gray, and Mike Rust officiated at the services. Burial followed at Trigg Memory Acres, in Cadiz.
Mr. Hammonds died on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 6:45 a.m. at Shady Lawn Nursing Center, in Cadiz, of natural causes.
Mr. Hammonds was born on Saturday, July 6, 1929, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late James Tandy and Mary Monica Perry Hammonds.
Mr. Hammonds was a caregiver. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Hammonds and Tommy Hammonds.
Survivors include two brothers, Howard “Preacher” Hammonds, Cadiz, Ray Hammonds, Grand Rivers, two sisters, Ethel Woodard, Cadiz, Mary Alice Laird, Cadiz, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Joe Cullum Jr., Mike Puckett, Roger Puckett, Jerry Proffitt, Cecil Calhoun Jr., and Richard Hammonds.
Rhonda Wade, vocalist and instrumentalist, Tabitha Johnson, vocalist, and Barbara Jean Futrell, pianist provided music.
