A new assisted living facility, Barkley Plantation, is coming to Cadiz, and it is scheduled to be completed by January of next year, said Clara Beth Hyde, who co-owns the facility with her husband Mike as well as her parents Ernest and Clara Lawrence.

Ground on the 26-unit assisted living facility was first broken on the project in April, said Hyde, who added that there will be a news and information day event open to everyone at the site on 640 Bypass Road on Friday, Oct. 2, at 10:30 a.m.

Nancy Steele, a consultant to the Hydes who will be working on the project until the facility opens, said she has gotten “very, very good feedback” from seniors in the community regarding the apartment-style assisted living facility, and quite a few people have expressed interest in living there.

Although those who want to live in the facility will have to furnish it, everything else will be provided to them, including meals, and all they will have to pay is a monthly rent, said Steele.

In addition to community and private dining rooms, the facility will have its own beauty parlor, computer lab and transportation for those who no longer wish to drive around on their own, Steele said.
