In honor of Valentine’s Day weekend, Lake Barkley State Resort Park is offering several entertainment options for couples.

Park Manager John Rittenhouse said that for the last couple of years, the Trigg/Lyon Newcomers Club have sponsored a Sweetheart Dance, which this year will feature the David Ivey Band. He said the club members always decorate beautifully, and that the proceeds from the dance help go to the charities to which the club donates.

“It’s a fun time for a couple that wants to get away,” Rittenhouse said.

For $75 a person, couples can go for a sunset dinner cruise on Friday, Feb. 15, said Recreation Director Jenny Howard. It will leave at 4:15 p.m. and will feature a multi-course meal and drinks. For $25 a person, couples can go on the Saturday cruise instead, which leaves at 4:30. It doesn’t have a meal, but will be back at the lodge in time for dinner, she said.

“(Head Chef Hattie Cheatam’s) meals are always the best,” Rittenhouse said.

The biggest package includes a room for Friday and Saturday night. It includes the Saturday dinner and a Sunday breakfast. Another package is available for Saturday night lodging, the dinner and the breakfast. Howard also said that if a couple is signed up for one of the packages, they can go on a van eagle-viewing tour.

For information about the packages and pricing, call the lodge at 924-1131 or 1-800-325-1708
