Tournament Director Mike Wells said, “The tournament pays $5,000 for first place no matter how many boats we have.” He said that the top prize would go to the heaviest catch of five fish.
The big-fish prize amount will be awarded to the fisherman with the largest fish based on the amount of entries in the field. Wells added that several contingency prizes would be awarded based on types of boats, motors and other factors to increase the size of potential prizes.
“This is our first year to have a tournament in this series out at the lodge,” said Wells. “If I had to guess, I would say we’ll have about 60 boats, but I hope we beat that.”
Wells said that the tournament would begin with a pre-meeting on Friday and launch from Lake Barkley Marina on Saturday.
Fees are $20 for a boater and $100 for a co-angler. For complete rules, go to www.weekendseries.com.
