Trigg County Hospital’s Board of Directors’ Chairman Dr. Mike Gross announced that the hospital would rescind a decision to buy $117,000 in hospital beds made in December of last year.

The board agreed to purchase the beds from Stryker Hospital Supply with funding received from a donation from the late Jean Ricks. She stipulated in her estate that the hospital purchase equipment with the donation.

The hospital selected Stryker from a list of strategic partners allied with its management company, QHR rather than accept bids for the transaction.

“We may still buy the beds from Stryker,” said Gross. “Due to different legal opinions on the purchase we decided to err on the side of an abundance of caution as we may have held an improper meeting.”

Gross said that the hospital cancelled the order and will revisit the issue at its next meeting. At the meeting, he said that the board would re-examine its procurement policy for possible adjustments.

“If we were in the wrong, we want to do things right,” said Gross.
