Mr. Calhoun died of natural causes at 9:58 a.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010 at his residence.
He was born October 18, 1920 in Trigg County to the late Harlan and Emma Dixon Calhoun.
Mr. Calhoun was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII. He retired from the Corps of Eng-ineers with 33 years of service, where he worked as a Lock Master. He was a member of Canton Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion, The Lions Club and Cadiz Masonic Lodge no. 121.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Amos “Dave” Calhoun and Hay Calhoun; three sisters, Katie Calhoun, Lula Killmer and Ruby Sumner; one son, Ricky Calhoun; and one daughter, Sandra Proffitt.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Magdalene Noel Calhoun of Cadiz; one brother, Lacy Calhoun of Grand Rivers; three sons, Brent Calhoun (and wife Beverly Carty) of Summerville, Ala., Barry Calhoun (and wife Deborah) of Brownstown, Mich. and Greg Calhoun (and wife Janet) of Cadiz; one son-in-law, James Proffitt of Columbia, Tenn.; one daughter-in-law, Joy Calhoun of Columbia, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Colter Calhoun, Adam Calhoun, Lori Rumley, Amy Vasco, Austin Calhoun, David Profitt and Tina Guldberg; and ten great grandchildren, Ryan Calhoun, Emily Calhoun, Cal Vasko, Gabe Vasko, Ella Rumley, Emilee Proffitt, Cole Proffitt, Ben Proffitt, Sophia Guldberg and Michael Guldberg.
Pallbearers are Colter Calhoun, Austin Calhoun, Brent Calhoun, Barry Calhoun, Greg Calhoun, Adam Calhoun, David Proffitt and Perry Noel. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Proffitt, Dustin Caugle, Bill H. Sumner, John Leneave, Johnny Calhoun, Lacy Calhoun, Ronnie Calhoun and Hay Calhoun.
Music will be provided by Justin Reynolds, vocalist and pianist.
