The Cheercats had four competitive teams for 2009-2010; two youth teams (11 and under), the Lynx and Jaguars, and two senior teams (18 and under), the Cheetahs and Sabers. The teams were comprised of kids from numerous schools throughout Christian, Trigg, Caldwell and Montgomery counties and Ft. Campbell.
The end of year banquet was held on Sunday, May 2 at Seven Springs Farms in Wallonia. All of the participants received recognition at the banquet. There weretwo graduating seniors honored as well, Lyndsey McClain and Macy Nichols.
Lyndsey was with Bluegrass for one season and is a graduate of Heritage Christian Academy in Hopkinsville. She will be attending Campbellsville University in the fall. Lyndsey has received a scholarship to cheer at Campbellsville.
Macy was with Bluegrass for five seasons and is a graduate of Trigg County High in Cadiz. She will be attending Western Kentucky University in the fall. Macy has received a scholarship to cheer at Western. Macy was also the recipient of the Jerika Wilson IMPACT award – this award is presented to the cheerleader who demonstrates Integrity, Motivation, Persistence, Attitude, Character and Teamwork.
Sarah Beth Hardison received the Elizabeth Atwood Spirit Award. This award is presented to the cheerleader who demonstrates a genuine love and passion for the sport of cheerleading. The award was created in memory of Elizabeth Atwood, teammate and friend, who had been a member of Bluegrass Cheercats since the beginning in April 2003.
