Funeral services for Bobby Gene Oakley, 72, of Benton, formerly of Cadiz, were conducted on Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at 2 p.m., at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz.

Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated at the services. Burial followed in Long Creek Cemetery in Land Between The lakes.

Mr. Oakley died on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at 11:39 a.m., at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah of natural causes.

Mr. Oakley was born on March 23, 1933, in Golden Pond, Ky. He was the son of the late Lois and Tilda Futrell Oakley.

Mr. Oakley was a retired truck driver, and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mable Oakley; his second wife, Ruby Oakley; a son, Terry Boyd; a daughter, Edna Nell Oakley in infancy; and a grandson, Terry Shane Boyd.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Anne Oakley of Benton; a son, Bobby Dale Oakley of Cadiz; six daughters, Sharon Rose McCraw of Cadiz, Barbara Jean Donelson, Elizabeth Lane, and Rose Ann Oakley, all of Murray, Joanne McCoy of Canton, and Tina Bucy of Paris, Tenn.; four step daughters, Linda Murphy of Calvert City, Pamela Powell of London, Kathy Johnston of Benton, and Kim Dunn of Mayfield; two step sons, Kevin Johnston of Benton, and Jason Johnston of Lexington; two brothers, Billy Oakley of Murray, and J.B. Oakley of Cadiz; two sisters, Betty Barehead of Murray, and Dianne Lester of Princeton; 16 grandchildren, nine step grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and one step great-grandchild.

Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Johnston, Mike Dunn, Jason Johnston, Jim Donelson, Buddy McCraw, Craig Oakley, and Brent Oakley.

Music was provided by Bill Ezell, soloist, and Clarissa King, pianist.
