Cadiz Civitans met last week

The Cadiz Civitan Club met Tuesday night, Jan. 4 with president Rachel Shepard presiding.

David Kyler led the pledge to the U.S.A. flag and John Mitchell said the prayer. Fruit cake chairman Wallace Blakeley and treasurer Ronnie Cook gave reports. Cadiz Civitan club thanks all those who bought fruit- cakes and made contributions for another successful year. Civitan serves this community and looks forward to supporting needs in 2011.

President Shepard’s quiz was about fish, fishing and words with more than one meaning. The winner was John Mitchell, who had a perfect score.

Plans are being made for the Annual Clergy Night Banquet to be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Cadiz Restaurant. The banquet honors local ministers and their spouses.

Those attending include Willie Wilson, Rachel Shepard, Wallace Blakeley, William and Carolyn Lawrence, David Kyler, Ronnie Cook and John and Carol Mitchell.

John Mitchell also won the gold dollar and closed the meeting by reading the Civitan Creed. The Cadiz Civitan Club meets at 6:30 p.m. each first and third Tuesday.
