Valentine Bingo is offered by participating merchants in the downtown area and sponsored by Renaissance on Main. To participate, a merchant must make a contribution to the prize list and many are donate money for gift certificates.
Trigg County citizens who want to participate in Valentine Bingo can pick up a Bingo Card at any of the participating merchants. The Bingo card has a space for a stamp from each participating merchant.
After every box is stamped, the participant can turn in the card at the last place they received a stamp. All participating merchants will have the Bingo cards and a box available.
"Should one of the downtown merchants be closed while a participant is getting the card stamped, one of the other participating merchants can stamp it for them," said Debbie Bridges of Blue Moon Antiques.
All Bingo cards must be turned in by noon on Monday, February 14. Winners will be selected at a 2:30 p.m. drawing at City Hall. Participants do not have to be present to win. During the drawing participants have a chance at winning gift certificates and a floral arrangement. Certificates that will be given away include a $100 certificate, a $50 certificate, a $30 certificate, a $25 certificate and four $20 gift certificates.
A floral arrangement from Mildred's Flowers will also be awarded. The gift certificates can be used at any of the participating merchants.
Participating merchants this year are Trigg County Realty, Mildred's Flowers, Cadiz Antique Mall, Main Street Pizza Time, Gift Emporium, JY Antiques, Cakes and More by Polly, Miz Malva's Antiques, Blue Moon Antiques, This and That, Loose Treasures, Hot Diggity Dog and Cherokee Antique Mall. If the weather permits, the merchants will be marked with red, white and pink balloons.
There will be $285 worth of gift certificates and a floral arrangement given away.
This is the second year that downtown Cadiz had offered Valentine Bingo. "The first year is always a learning experience," said Cindy Sholar of Renaissance on Main. "We've grown. Our participation among merchants is better. It’s becoming a real success," said Bridges.
The purpose of Valentine Bingo is to generate business in the downtown area. "We want to bring business downtown. The majority of antique store business comes off the interstate. We would like the community to shop downtown. Maybe if them downtown they will see things that they have not seen down here before," said Bridges.
Bridges also adds that there are a variety of stores that are located in the downtown area. "Not everything downtown is antiques. We have three restaurants down here that serve very good food."
Participating merchants encourage everyone to come participate in Valentine Bingo. While you are getting your card stamped, look around and shop, maybe grab a bite to eat. There are many great prizes to be won while participating in Valentine Bingo.
In addition to the promotion sponsored by Renaissance on Main, The Cadiz Record is again sponsoring its annual Valentine’s promotion with 10 sponsoring merchants from around Trigg County.
