Veterans’ Day began as Armistice Day, observing the end of World War I at the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month. The celebration has since been renamed Veterans’ Day to cherish all American veterans, while the date of the celebration in Trigg County has moved to November 10 for a parade.

“This is our eighth-annual Veterans’ Day Parade,” said Judge/Executive Stan Humphries. “The theme this year is ‘Lest we Forget.’”

Humphries said that the parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the parking lot of the Trigg County Schools. For a change, the parade route will travel the length of the drive beside the High School office before turning right on Main Street towards downtown.

“We are still accepting entries from anyone who wants to participate. All veterans and those interested in honoring veterans are welcome to join,” said Humphries. He added that golf carts would be available for veterans to travel the length of the parade route.
