Kathy McCraw said she went with her friends, Jackie Oakley and Ann King, also breast cancer survivors. McCraw’s daughters, Joy Colbert and Donna McCraw, accompanied her, as did Oakley’s daughter, Tara Alexander.
McCraw said it was the third year she attended the event. She is a 12-year cancer survivor and had been invited before that, but hadn’t been able to attend. She said the event was very exciting and she enjoyed meeting First Lady Glenna Fletcher, as well as the governor. She said that last year, she toured the Governor’s Mansion but couldn’t this year because of the ongoing renovations.
The event was started by former First Lady Judy Patton, who spoke again at this year’s ceremony, McCraw said.
