Trigg County remained out in front of Carlisle County in much of the second and third quarters, outscoring the Lady Comets 20-14 over the stretch.
Senior guard Whitney Hoskins led Carlisle County to the win, scoring a game-high 17 points. Courtney Crawford, another Carlisle County senior guard, scored eight points, and senior forward Kayla Stephens added seven. Eighth grade standout Macy Moran pushed in five points and sophomore Jailynn Carrico added three for the Lady Comets.
Sophomore guard/forward Brooke Kearney paced Trigg County with a team-best 13 points. Sophomore guard Elysia Brown and senior forward Janada Acree followed with 10 points apiece for the Lady Cats.
Trigg County led Carlisle County 33-27 at the end of the third quarter before falling.
Trigg County finished play in the Kentucky Machine & Engineering Christmas Classic 1-2. The Lady Cats defeated Dawson Springs 52-38 Monday, Dec. 22. Union City, Tenn. beat Trigg County 69-51 Tuesday, Dec. 23.
The Lady Cats are scheduled to return to action Friday (Jan. 2) on the road at Crittenden County. Tip-off for the Trigg-Crittenden girls’ basketball game is set for 6 p.m.
