Local bands Cat Daddy and Highway 101 will be the featured musical acts on Friday and Saturday respectively, and a sword swallower by the name of Dan Meyer will also be performing. There will also be a fireworks show at West Cadiz Park on Friday evening.
“Many people locally will recognize Cat Daddy and Highway 101,” said Leida Underhill, Cadiz Renaissance on Main Director.
The committee voted to start a pork cookbook, and they will be soliciting pork recipes from people in the area. The idea of having a cookbook was discussed by the committee when they met in July.
Ronald McDonald will also be in town on Saturday from noon–2 p.m., and the local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter will be hosting a plastic duck race on Little River on Saturday, starting at 2 p.m.
There will be a drawing for cash and other prizes on Sunday, but to be eligible, people wanting the prizes will have to be at the festival, Underhill said.
The new Renaissance director also aid that the new Ham Festival T-shirts, which are red this year, have come in, and will be available at the banks, at the Renaissance office, Loose Treasures and other places.
The next Ham Festival Committee will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28 at Cadiz City Hall.
