A Cerulean man died on the morning of Thursday, May 7, after an accident involving a flatbed truck at a lumber yard on Buffalo Road in Cerulean, according to a report by Trooper Dean Patterson, a public affairs officer for the Kentucky State Police Post One.

At approximately 7:52 a.m. on Thursday, Weaver W. Shirk, 45, was loading lumber onto a flatbed semi-trailer truck at a Cerulean lumber yard on Buffalo Road, when the truck struck an I-beam, causing it to become loose, which caused the lumber to fall toward the truck, said Patterson.

Shirk was pinned between the load and the flatbed after he tried to stop the load from hitting the truck, and suffered fatal injuries as a result, Patterson said.
