Trigg County Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Atwood said that he is pleased with response to the chamber’s new gift certificate program introduced in July.

“So far, we’ve sold 24, and for this time of year, that’s not too bad. Typically, we see them selling best around Christmas, and anticipate sales will increase substantially in November or December. I’m not disappointed with it at all,” said Atwood.

Atwood said the 24 certificates have been reported sold by Certificheck, the company providing the service, for a total of $165. Certificheck collects $300 annually from the chamber to manage the service. Gift certificates are available for purchase online at www.cadizchamber.com, and are redeemable for full cash value at any chamber member’s business.

“You can use them at a variety of places, not just retail shops,” said Atwood. “It’s just like a check. You can use one in a dentist’s office if he is in the chamber.”

When the program launched, Atwood said that a notice was sent to 52 chamber members with an opportunity to opt out of the program. Businesses honoring the certificates have a decal on the door announcing participation.
