The Cadiz Civitan Club met Tuesday night Feb. 1 at the Cadiz Restaurant. President Rachel Shepard le the pledge to the U. S. flag and John Mitchell said the prayer.

Wallace Blakeley gave a report on Civitan Fruit Cake Sales, which raise money for the Annual Trigg County Special Children’s Christmas Party and Special Olympics. Sales were very good and Civitan appreciates all who sold and purchased Fruit Cakes.

William Lawrence added to Blakeley’s report for Civitan Candy Boxes, which are being evaluated. If you would like to have a candy box at your business location, please contact the club.

Final plans have been made for the annual Cadiz Civitan Club’s Clergy Night Banquet, honoring area ministers for their service to God and community. Civitan members, spouses and guests are invited, along with ministers and their spouses. The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Cadiz Restaurant. The speaker will be Chaplain (Maj.) Darren Chester.

The main topic of discussion concerned membership. Unless more members are found, Cadiz Civitan club will not be able to continue the community projects and services that it has provided for the past 55 years.

Those active in the club for so many years are older and unable to be as active as they once were. Some are ill and unable to attend meetings and others have conflicting work schedules. If you would like to be part of Civitan and desire to help make a difference in this community, contact any member or come to the next meeting.

Civitan meets each 1st and 3rd Tuesday night at 6:30 at the Cadiz Restaurant. This is an excellent meeting place and the food is very good. Enjoy fellowship and the opportunity to become your best through Civitan, helping those who cannot help themselves.

The Feb. 1 meeting was attended by Willie Wilson, Wallace Blakeley, John Mitchell, William and Carolyn Lawrence and Mike and Rachel Shepard. John Mitchell won the gold dollar and the meeting closed with everyone reading the Civitan Creed in unison.
