Camp began July 19 and continued through July 22. It was led by the National Cheerleading Association. The camp was host to over 100 teams from across Tennessee and Kentucky.
During the camp, cheerleaders worked on learning and building skills that will help them function as a team and perform at a higher skill level. Some of the areas covered were sideline cheers and chants, cheer/dance routines and band music routines.
Cheerleaders were eligible to be nominated for the NCA All-American Team for possessing a variety of different skills. There were five Trigg cheerleaders that received nominations. Three were nominated for jumps – senior Taylor Creed, senior Chris Jenkins and junior Abby Thompson – and two for dance ability – senior Heather Miller and junior Jayce P’Pool.
The team as a whole received three “superior” recognitions and one “excellent,” as well as receiving a Spirit Stick daily, including the last day when the teams could take the stick home with them.
Trigg cheerleaders at the camp included senior captains Creed and Linda Fitch, senior Jenkins, juniors P’Pool, Thompson, Casey Hyde, Taylor Joyce, Kayla Oakley, Paxton Stroud and Kamryn Smith. Freshman cheerleaders are Audra Baker and Dallien Wright. The team is head coached by Brigitte Durham and assistant Kerry Sweno.
