A children’s performer will be at Trigg County High School’s Little Theater Thursday night to perform a show for the area’s children and their families.

“‘Campfire’ Kevin Holladay is an award-winning storyteller and singer/songwriter who combines years of experience as a classroom teacher, touring circus clown, and theatre professional into a performance style like no other,” reads the Kentucky Arts Council’s performing arts directory website. “From theme-based educational programming to all out entertainment, Campfire Kev has over 20 shows that promote reading, science, history, and a love of life-long learning. With his special blend of story, song, magic, and madcap merriment, he has thrilled and delighted audiences of all ages from sea to shining sea.”

The performance was commissioned by the Janice Mason Art Museum as one of many ways to celebrate its tenth anniversary this year. Board member Jinna Bower said that she first heard about Holladay when she saw him perform a quick show at a KAC meeting in Mayfield a few months ago. She saved the brochure and gave him a call when she realized he would be one good way to commemorate the museum’s 10 years in Cadiz. The museum has also planned a series of art-related lectures. Bower said that Holladay might incorporate the museum’s anniversary as a theme in his show.

In addition to the night show, Holladay has also agreed to perform two shows at the primary school for kindergarten, first and second grades earlier that day. With about 20 different shows in his repertoire, Holladay will be doing “Clowning Around With Kevin Holladay” for the primary students.
