City of Cadiz receives $250,000 check for Community Center

The City of Cadiz received a check from Governor Ernie Fletcher on Friday, October 21. The check was for $250,000 and will be used for the renovation of the Mary White building into a Community Center.

The check, that was signed by Governor Fletcher, was presented to the City of Cadiz by Shawn Dyer. Dyer is the Executive Director for Renaissance Kentucky in the Governor's Office for Local Development. Also present was David Moss, the Special Projects Coordinator for the Office of Legislative Services. T.C. Freeman a representative from Senator Jim Bunning's office was present. The representative from LINK, the Local Initiative for a New Kentucky, was Virginia Bishop, who is based out of Madisonville, KY.

Dyer was impressed with the town of Cadiz and Renaissance on Main. "I saw what you all have done and it's hard to understand until you have seen it," he said.

Dyer served in the U.S. Air Force as a contract specialist for several years. He served as the Project Chairman for Ernie Fletcher and in 2004 was Director of Renaissance Kentucky by Fletcher. Dyer said, "Governor Fletcher feels very strongly about revitalizing Kentucky, especially the downtown areas. He feels very strongly about this program."

While presenting the check, Dyer said, "I just want to say congratulations on behalf of Commissioner Darrell Brock and Ernie Fletcher. I want to congratulate you on your achievement."
