The Housing Authority of Cadiz and the Cadiz Family Development Center teamed up together last week for what they called a “sendoff ceremony” for Brayden Austin and Hunter Wiseman. Brayden, the younger of the two brothers, died shortly after a serious car accident in December and Hunter died in February as a result of the accident.

Children active in the Preschool Head Start Program, many of whom knew the boys, sang “You Are My Sunshine” at the small gathering. The boys’ parents, John and Sabrina Austin, were in attendance, as was their maternal grandmother, Anna Parker, and their paternal grandparents, Doug and Martina Wiseman. Alex and Holly Wiseman, the boys’ uncle and aunt, also came to the memorial service with their children, Tori and Devin.

Program Assistant Martha Ladd welcomed those at the ceremony and Family Advocate Jeanie Montgomery read several messages addressed to Brayden and Hunter from their Preschool Head Start classmates. “I haven’t seen you in a while,” one of them said. Another read, “Come back and play with us,” and another said, “I miss you.” One of them said the child wanted to bring toys up to heaven for them to play with.
