“AmeriCorps has a grant to run the College Coach program in Kentucky for three years,” Anderson said. “Trigg County High School was one of the selected high schools.”
Anderson said that save for the event held on Wednesday, Feb. 2, this is the first time that an event with all of the included activities has been held here, as a free Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) workshop is being provided like in previous years.
However, there will also be free food and drinks, a college fair with representatives from colleges like Murray State University along with the Army, Marines and National Guard, free ACT preparation sessions and free tax assistance by appointment only, said Anderson.
“This is a great event and we would like for everyone to take advantage of it,” said Anderson. “We are inviting all students, especially those in grades 9-12, and their families.”
There was a similar event held on Feb. 2, Anderson said it wasn’t heavily advertised, and she is hoping that more people can make it this time.
Everyone can make appointments for the free tax preparation by calling or emailing Anderson at 522-2200, extension 4073, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
