Last week The Project Development Board (PDB) overseeing the new courthouse started discussing likely the biggest issue related to the project– location.

Facilities Officer Vance Mitchell, who works for the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) and has overseen several similar projects, said the decision of location is one of the most important and has caused some projects to be delayed by as much as one year.

“To me, site is one of the biggest decisions on a project like this,” Mitchell said.

In Lewis County, he said the Project Development Board took nearly a year to decide where they were going to place their new justice center, making the project take longer than what was expected.
