White-Ranson Funeral Home in Union City, Tenn., was in charge of all the arrangements.
Bro. Greg Wells officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Hickman City Cemetery in Hickman.
Mrs. Darnell died on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the Beverly Health & Rehab Center in Union City, Tenn.
Mrs. Darnell was born on January 14, 1927, in Hickman County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the Late Henry Atlie and Estelle Dublin Fortner.
Mrs. Darnell was a retail grocer, and the owner of Ridge Store; and was a charter member of Midway Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Virgil Edward Darnell, and three children, Sandra Kay Darnell, Joey Darnell, and Ronnie Darnell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Ricky Darnell of Weakley County, Tenn., and Thomas Anthony and Cathy Darnell of Union City, Tenn.; a grandchild, Chelsea Darnell of Union City; two step-grandchildren, Angie Wheatley of Godsden, Ala., and Amy Williams of Crutchfield, Ky.; several step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Ballinger of Mayfield, and Betty Johnson of Murray; and three brothers, Marshall Fortner of Cadiz, Thomas Fortner of Trenton, Tenn., and Jim Fortner of Eddyville.
Peggy Amberg, Kendra Williams, and the Congregation provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Kilpatrick, Billy Fortner, Terry Jamison, III, Jimmy Darnell, Freddie Johnson, and Steve Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Sam Weatherby, Fred Johnson, Robert Johnson, Serlie Howell, Bob Mickins, and Thomas Farmer.
