In an article published by the Associated Press over a year ago, a site at LBSRP was serving as a dumpsite for potentially toxic chemicals. Now, a year later, the site is still there and the park is waiting on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to deal with the problem.
“It’s not the type of thing we can go in with our expertise and do,” Rittenhouse told the AP a year ago.
This week Rittenhouse said that the EPA is currently working on the remediation of the site, but still no action has been taken.
“That is being addressed,” Rittenhouse said Saturday. “(The site) is being handled by the EPA and so they are working with different test companies to get control samples and stuff.
“Pretty soon we will start work on (the site,)” he added.
