The location of the trial of Kevin Wayne Dunlap has been changed from the Trigg County Circuit Court in Cadiz to the Circuit Courtroom at the Livingston County Justice Center in Smithland, but will still be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9. A pre-trial hearing in the same location has been set for 9 a.m. on Friday, April 17.

This is according to a document that was signed on Monday, March 30, by Trigg County Judge C.A. “Woody” Woodall, Commonwealth’s Attorney G.L. Ovey and by Dunlap’s defense council, James Gibson.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins told the Cadiz Record that a change of venue was sought because of all of the pre-trial publicity, which she said could possibly be grounds for an appeal if Dunlap is convicted. All future hearings in the case in question will held there.

“In a case of this magnitude, a change of venue is usually requested,” Ovey-Wiggins said. “There has been a lot of pre-trial publicity in this case.”

Dunlap, 36, of Hopkinsville, was charged last year with the Wednesday, Oct. 15, murder of Kayla Elayne Williams, 17, Kortney Lan McBurney-Frensley, 14, and Ethan Zane Frensley, 5, and the attempted murder of their mother, Kristy Frensley, as well as rape, kidnapping, burglary and tampering with evidence.
