That was the main message conveyed during the economic development commission’s early morning meeting on Thursday, held at Cadiz City Hall.
Sharon Butts, director of the EDC, mentioned the Community Vision Planning meeting, held yesterday from 5–7 p.m. at the Renaissance Center. Both Butts and Jim Wallace, former-chairman of the EDC, mentioned the relative success of their joint meeting with the tourism commission the Tuesday before.
The commission also elected their 2010 officers at the meeting. Dan Bozarth was elected as the EDC chairman, Todd King was elected as the EDC vice chairman and Lori Ricks was elected as the EDC secretary-treasurer. Butts said that officers are chosen annually.
Butts talked about a Tennessee Valley Authority assortment of seminars in Nashville that she went to last week. She said the event is very important and is one of the best events the TVA hosts.
The event gives opportunities for all EDC-related people in the southern states and the valley to network, said Butts, who added that she will also be going to Frankfort on March 8.
Butts said she hasn’t been there since 2004 and that much has developed locally in the last six years.
