Funeral services for Earl Emerson Vinson, 87, of Dawson Springs, were held Sunday, February 20, 2011. The Revs. Randall Rogers and David Frisby officiated. Burial followed at Rogers Cemetery in Christian County with Military Rites performed by the United States Army and Madisonville Legion Post 6, Madisonville VFW Port 5480 and the Earlington American Legion Post 2. Beshear Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Vinson died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Tradewater Health and Rehab in Dawson Springs.

He was born February 20, 1923 in Christian County to the late Horace Lee Vinson and Ollie Cannada Vinson.

He was a retired teamster and a retired funeral assistant. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and served two terms on the Dawson Springs City Council. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving form 1949-1952. He was a member of Adriel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Ruth Farris Vinson; three sisters, Ruby Vinson, Ermallean Mitchell and Alberta Witty; and one brother, William Kermitt Vinson.

Survivors include one sister, Velma Vinson Campbell Hancock of Hopkinsville; one daughter, Donna Ruth Vinson Clark of Cadiz; one son, Damon Earl Vinson (and wife Sherry) of Dawson Springs; seven grandchildren, Misty Wagner, Josh Vinson, Dusty Vinson, Mary Malissa “Doodle” Vinson, Desiree Jenkins, Gabriel Jenkins and Dana Lewis; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pall bearers were Damon Vinson, Donna Clark, Desiree Jenkins, Dusty Vinson, Josh Vinson, Gabriel Jenkins and Austin Mitchell.
