Emma Lee (Bacon) Baker, 91 of Evansville, Indiana and formerly of Cadiz, died Sunday, January 18 at Good Samaritan Home

She was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board, Captain of Women’s Day and Catering Committee.

She was born to Jerry and Birdie Bacon in Cadiz, Kentucky who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Arthur Baker and Charles Baker, three sisters and three brothers.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and loved going to church.

Surviving are her daughters, Dorothy Baker, Hazel Townsend, Janie (Elgie) Blanton and Carolyn (Charles H.) Farmer all of Evansville; sons James (Ann) Baker of Evansville, Mitchell Baker of Hagerstown, Maryland, fostered son Gilbert (Goldie) Darrett of Atwater, California and special niece, Virginia (Thomas) Turner of Indianapolis, Indiana. She has eighteen grandchildren Timothy Bailey, Darlene Chandler, Cordelia Baker, LeKevin Baker, Olaseni (Erica) Blanton, Kartanya Blanton, Karnesha March, Chotsani (Derrick) Stewart, Chanua (Erica) Farmer, Chavon Farmer, Scott Baker, Lisa Baker, Maria Baker, Jimmy Rinten, Carmen Baker, Gretchen (Patrick) Blackwell, Arthur Jr. (Jill) Baker and Demetrius Baker. She has thirty great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 S. Governor Street, Evansville with burial at Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Alexander East Funeral Home and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
