Mr. Sholar died of natural causes at 9:40 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011 at Trigg County Hospital.
He was born August 30, 1917 in Trigg County to the late Henry David Sholar and Maggie Louise Dearing Sholar.
Mr. Sholar was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and a well- known great dark fired tobacco raiser.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Wright Sholar; two sisters, Martha Louise Meredith and Dorothy Mae Broadbent; two brothers, Leroy and Noble Sholar; one son, Johnny Wayne Sholar; and one grandchild, Tandy Lynn Sholar,
Survivors include two brothers, Lacy Sholar of Hopkinsville and Harrison Sholar of Cadiz; three sons, Ernest Sholar, Jr. of Russellville, Bobby Ray Sholar (and wife Doris) of Hopkinsville and Jackie Lynn Sholar (and wife Teresa H.) of Gracey; five daughters, Sue Mock (and husband Don) of Hopkinsville, Nell Fowler (and husband Ray) of Gracey, Lou Butts (and husband James) of Cadiz, Wanda Morris (and husband Danny) of Gracey and Martha Bunn of Tampa, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren ; and three great- great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are A.J. Sholar, R.J. Sholar, John Reddick, Devon Morris, Ricky Butts, Mike Morris, Jason Simdon, Stevie Butts, Ty Butts and Carter Sholar. Honary pallbearers are David Butts, Mark Butts, Jeff Fowler, Bruce Simdon and Lee Northcutt.
